Musical and art offerings at the UUSIC include our
weekly services,
the Dances
of Universal Peace, the Drum Circle, and special programs. If
you have questions, suggestions, or would like to participate, please
email our Music Director, Barby Buddin at barbybuddin@yahoo.com.
Music
Fine music is a long-standing Society tradition, whether presented by our Choir,
soloists or small ensembles from this musically-talented community, visiting
artists, or our own members—including several of our young people each
year.
In addition to the choir, the weekly service includes
special music, which ranges from traditional to classical to jazz and
folk, performed by local artists and Society members. Other opportunities
for musical expression are available during the month.
The Dances
of Universal Peace
Offered monthly between September and the first week of June, the Dances
celebrate both the unity and diversity of all beings. They combine simple folk
dance movements with chanting or singing of sacred words and phrases from the
world’s
spiritual traditions. Dance circles have spread around the world through the
efforts of Peaceworks International Network, providing a unique spiritual experience
for both experienced and beginning dancers. They are taught and led by Virginia
Melroy, a supervised teacher of the Dances.
