Sunday Service
April 30, 2023 @ 10:00 am - 11:00 am
Building on Our Principles: We will explore the revisions being proposed by the Article II Study Commission to the Principles and Purposes of the Unitarian Universalist Association of Congregations (UUA). The proposed revisions to the Principles and Purposes section focus on our shared values and then use these values as the ground for aspirational statements of action. Building on the Principles we’ve been using, they say more clearly what we will do based on our values. They also focus more on what our sources of inspiration do for us and how we should approach sources of inspiration.
This will be a multiplatform service, with congregants and visitors welcome to join in person or watch over YouTube Live.
On months with five Sundays, the offerings for the extra week are collected to benefit a special agency or cause. On April 30th, the offering will go to the Black Women’s Maternal Health Collective, which provides support to Black women in the environment of major health concerns. The Collective functions under the umbrella of the Sankofa Outreach Connection, which works to 1) increase the overall wellness of women of color in our community; 2) to decrease social isolation of women of color; and connect women of color to existing spaces; and 3) to centralize resources for women of color.
Checks for the offering baskets should be made out to UUS and have “BWMH” on the memo line. You can also donate online at http://bit.ly/UUSPartner, text “GivetoUUSIC Partner” to 73256, or mail a check to the UUS office.
A social hour follows the service, in the Fellowship Hall for in person participants, and over Zoom for virtual participants.
