Celebrate International Women’s Day on March 7
Night of 1000 Dinners, an annual community celebration of International Women’s Day, will be Thursday, March 7, 6:00 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Society, 2355 Oakdale Road, Coralville. Hosted by the Johnson County Chapter of the United Nations Association, this event will feature an international buffet, entertainment, and recognition of women-led local groups advancing good health and well-being in our community.
Night of 1000 Dinners also focuses on the UN Sustainable Development Goals. This year the theme is Goal #3, Good Health and Well-Being. Proceeds will benefit four local women-led organizations advancing Goal #3 in our community: 4Cs of Johnson County, Healthy Kids School-Based Clinics, the Emma Goldman Clinic, and the Youth Crisis Stabilization Program, a joint initiative of United Action for Youth and CommUnity Crisis Services. Also honored will be the UN Children’s Fund (UNICEF).
Tickets are $25 for community members and $10 for students and those on limited income through March 1. Starting March 2 the price will be $35 for community members and $15 for students/limited income. Over 20 local businesses and non-profits, including UUS, are co-sponsors. The Johnson County Chapter is the local affiliate of the United Nations Association of the USA, a non-governmental, non-partisan membership movement building support for the life-saving and life-changing work of the United Nations.
