Covenant Groups in October
In October, covenant groups gathered to discuss—and practice—“Deep Listening.” There’s more to listening than meets the ear. We listen first and foremost, of course, to gather information, to help us navigate our way through the world. But we also listen to learn life’s inner truths. We listen to connect with other people, to understand, to empathize, to love. And by doing so, to learn who we are. We must listen deeply to others in order, ultimately, to hear ourselves.
This month we’re talking about “The Practice of Repair.” When something breaks in our lives, the natural desire is to fix it, to restore it to the way it was before. But is that the best way to approach the process of repair? Is it even possible to put the pieces back together exactly as they were? Perhaps instead we should seize the opportunity to take those pieces and create something entirely new.
If questions like these intrigue you, you might want to consider joining a covenant group. The covenant group program offers its members the opportunity to share their views and deepen their understanding of a wide range of issues while creating closer ties with other UUs.
