December Free Lunch Program Report
The weather was spring-like on Friday, December 8th. The ICUUS chefs, under the supervision of Vicki Siefers and Frank Waldensee, created a gourmet meal of chicken divan donated by Diana Miller and Carmen Griggs. The chicken divan was enjoyed by 128 guests with our popular green veggie and fruit salads. The meal and sides were completely gone and savored with a variety of cookies, apple juice, and other drinks by the guests. There were no leftovers, and it was a wonderful day.
Our efforts have been well-coordinated by Frank Waldensee’s new “sign up” approach using a Google app for volunteers. It has been successful and will probably be tweaked a bit for January 12th and the new year coming.
It should be noted that our UUS FLP has been doing its own cooking using our UUS kitchen and the 1105 facility for the main meal this calendar year. This is a wonderful post-Covid success both in economy and quality. We hope the congregation knows what a significant job your friends, the volunteers, have accomplished this year. We proudly serve both the UUS and the community.
We are grateful for your support and welcome that help in the coming year. To learn more about the Free Lunch Program, email freelunch@uusic.org.
