Johnson County Interfaith Coalition Friend and Fundraiser

We’re excited to sponsor Johnson County Interfaith Coalition’s annual Faith in Action Friend and Fundraiser on November 20 at UUS! We’d love for you to be a part of this special evening as an attendee, a volunteer, or both.

UUS is a member of JCIC, which is building a multicultural faith-based coalition that advocates, creates, and affirms justice and equality in Johnson County, especially for persons of color. JCIC is doing this through advocacy in education and mental health systems, small grants, training, and relationship building.

This year’s Friend and Fundraiser will be a wonderful opportunity to deepen our connections with JCIC and other congregations and organizations, get inspired about racial justice, build community resilience, celebrate the crucial work JCIC is doing, and raise funds so JCIC can continue its work. There will be:

  • Stories from the first JCIC’s Faith in Action grant recipients and other recent advocacy work

  • Music

  • Spoken word poetry

  • Collaborative art-making

  • Dancing

  • Silent auction

  • Opportunities to learn about and support our 2025 grant funding cycle, training options, and priorities

  • Delicious food!

We hope you’ll join us in our work to further racial justice in Johnson County. Contact Peg Bouska at peg-bouska@uiowa.edu to volunteer for the event. Please buy your tickets here and mark UUS as your congregation. Let Rev. Diana Smith know you’re coming by emailing minister@uusic.org. If you’d like a scholarship to attend, please also email Rev. Diana. Registration closes November 13.
