UUS Receives Grant to Upgrade Building Safety Systems
UUS has been awarded a $58,500 grant to upgrade several critical safety systems. Lucy Gamon did much of the work in coordinating the grant application, with assistance from Rev. Diana, Board president Jeff Walberg, and former congregational administrator Emma Barnum.
The grant will cover the full cost to install key-card access systems at every exterior door, video intercoms at three primary entryways (main door, kitchen, and offices), upgraded security cameras, and physical barriers at the main entry. The grant also provides a stipend for staff time to coordinate the project.
During the application process, we received initial estimates for specific equipment. Further details will be developed over the next few months, and the project will be put out to bid before installation proceeds.
The grant was funded by the Department of Homeland Security through their Nonprofit Security Grant Program (NSGP), which aims to help nonprofit organizations lessen the risk of terrorist attacks. If you have questions or would like to be involved in the project, contact Rev. Diana or congregational administrator Maya Yoder.
